June 29, 2019 Zubiri to Pamplona

Because yesterday was so bad, we took a bus from our albuergue to Pamplona. This was a wonderful and well spent 2€. We traveled with the French ladies Ann-Marie and Annie. We went straight to the Tourism Office. While they were all talking to the people in the office, the most amazing parade came by. There was a great band, lots of banners, and kids in traditional clothing. They stopped st the plaza we were nearby, and began to dance. I had my “ah-ha” moment when it really hit home that I am in Spain. We sat and had cookies and coffee, and then headed up to the cathedral. It is really something to see. It is a huge place, and the sacred space is incredible.

OP
After we left the cathedral, we did a little bit of shopping, ate lunch, and went to the Pension. Pensions are more like small apartments. They can have single or double beds. Well, we got there and they were CLOSED for an hour and a half! We were so hot, 110°, so we did what the hobos do… we laid down in the shade in the nearby park. The French folks were staying there too, and they joined us very shortly after we arrive. We went to find a drink and kill some time. I tried Musto, which is a non-alcoholic white wine that tasted just like apple juice to me. Very refreshing. We finally got checked in, had an adventure trying to unlock our door, and finally relaxed. We went to dinner with the French guys, and had an early night. I included this pic because I thought it was so funny.
